The John Deere combine harvester plant in Zweibrücken, Germany, has been facing a very difficult situation in recent months. After negotiations with the trade unions, „John Deere“, which had previously planned to lay off workers, has decided to keep the jobs at least until 2027. In the meantime, the workers will be given two years of guarantees, but working hours will be significantly reduced and the plant will be closed in the summer.

After negotiations, the collective agreement was also amended and notified to the Federal Labour Agency.

Factory manager Daniel Metz‘acknowledges that „John Deere“, like other agricultural machinery manufacturers, is feeling the economic pressures and the effects of the market downturn.

In August this year, the company laid off 600 workers at two plants in the US.
