The most popular pizza choices in Poland
Analysis of receipts collected by PanParagon and published on Friday showed that the classic pizza „Margarita“ with mozzarella, basil and tomato sauce is the favourite in Poland, and is included in 29.5% of the pizzeria receipts surveyed.
In second place – Pizza „Capricciosa“ with mozzarella, ham and mushrooms, included in 28.2% of receipts. In third place was the traditional Italian pizza with salami, but with a much smaller share of 12.3% of pizzeria customers.
Despite the ongoing debate about pizzas with pineapple, the Hawaiian pizza came in fourth place, with 9.7% of diners choosing it. In a previous study conducted in 2023, Hawaiian pizza ranked fifth. „So, despite the opposition of traditional Italian cuisine advocates, its fan base has expanded“," said Antonina Grzelak of „PanParagon“.
Rural pizza (3.1 per cent) and farmer's pizza (2.9 per cent) also made the list, both of which can vary depending on what the restaurants offer. The Country pizza is usually served with sausage and pickles, while the Farmer's pizza contains sausage, onions and red peppers. All these ingredients are well-known and loved in Poland. The following pizzas are „Pepperoni“ (2.7%), „Kebab“ (2.5%), „Funghi“ (2.3%), and vegetarian pizzas.World Pizza Day was celebrated on 17 January to coincide with the feast of St Anthony the Great, patron saint of fire and related professions.
