A resident of Panevėžys district must have been under a lot of stress when he tried to fish on the thinning ice, and when it broke, he fell into the lake's cold waters. The Fire and Rescue Department reported that on 6 March, a report was received that a fisherman had fallen into the ice on the lake, and the reporting party saw a man crawling towards the shore.

The distance to shore was 30-40 metres.

When the firefighters arrived, the man had already come ashore. He was examined by medics.

The swimmer used a rescue sledge to collect the fisherman's belongings on the ice, which were 50-60 metres away, and brought them to shore.
