Additional €342 000 in compensation for those who have given up commercial fishing

The Ministry of Environment has allocated an additional €342,000 for compensation for the cessation of commercial fishing in inland waters.

When the call for compensation was launched at the beginning of April, all the funds were reserved before the deadline for applications. The additional funding will therefore, according to the Ministry, allow even more fishermen to receive compensation payments for the cessation of their activities.

„2026 is the last year in which fishermen-entrepreneurs can benefit from this support measure and receive payments for the cessation of their activities,'' the ministry said in a press release.

Fishermen who transfer inland fishing quota rights to a body authorised by the Minister of the Environment and cease commercial fishing in inland waters are eligible for compensation.

Applications will be accepted until 29 May
