The average buying-in price for natural milk in May was 50.9 cents per kilogram, 32.6% higher than at the same time last year, according to the Agricultural Data Centre.

For large milk producers, buying companies paid an average of 54.8 cents per kilogram this May, 29.8% more than last year.

Large raw material suppliers in Lithuania are those who sell more than 40 tonnes of milk per month. In May, they sold 68% of all raw milk bought in the country.

In Lithuania, raw milk production on farms is increasing due to the high purchase price of milk.

During January-April this year, the country's dairy farms delivered 432.87 thousand tonnes of natural raw milk to purchasers, an increase of 0.4% compared to the same period last year.
