The farm-gate price of milk increased by 34% over the year.

The average buying-in price for natural milk in June was 34% higher than in the same period last year, at almost 50 cents per kilo, according to the Agricultural Data Centre.

Purchasing companies paid an average of 54.3 cents per kilogram to large milk producers this June, 32% more than at the same time last year, according to the report.

According to the Agricultural Data Centre, large raw material suppliers sold 65% of the country's total raw milk purchases in June.

It is also noted that the high purchase price of milk in Lithuania has led to an increase in the production of raw milk on farms.

Large suppliers of raw milk in the country are considered to be those who sell more than 40 tonnes of milk per month.
