Tragedy in Bokštų village: drunken farm worker kills a man
After the tragedy in the village of Bokštų, police officers of the Klaipėda District have launched a pre-investigation investigation into the violation of occupational health and safety requirements.
It is reported that on 3 July at around 9 a.m. in the village of Boksteski. On July 7, 2010, at 7:30 a.m. On July 30, 30-30, 30 minutes after the accident, a drunken (0.75 per cent) worker (born in 1973), working with a telescopic loader and loading concrete poles, pinned down and fatally injured a man (born in 1962) on a farm in the village of Bokštų (Šilalė district).
Article 176(1) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania (a pre-trial investigation has been opened under this paragraph) states that "an employer or a person authorised by him who violates the occupational safety and health requirements laid down in the Law on Occupational Safety and Health of the Republic of Lithuania or in other legislation, if this has caused a serious or fatal accident at work or has resulted in other serious consequences, shall be liable to a fine or to arrest, or to deprivation of liberty for up to seven years."
It should be noted that it is not only the drunken natural person who may be liable, but also the legal person.
