The world's most advanced woodchuck in Lithuania
The world's most modern honey spinning machine has been launched in Lithuania, purchased by the founders of the brand „Brolių medus“ brothers Ignas and Vilius Jackevičiai. It is the first of its kind in the country, enabling the spinning of as many as 120 combs in just 5 minutes, and can produce up to 10 tonnes of honey per season. Significantly increasing the number of bee colonies kept on the farm – and up to 200 tonnes.
„We happened to see this machine on the YouTube platform while we were interested in the latest technology being used by our friends abroad. We were surprised by the capabilities of the honey extractor, which ensures the honey extraction process from uncapping the combs to bottling the honey, says beekeeper I. Jackevičius.
The decision to purchase this equipment was months in the making – for the brothers, the most important thing was to ensure that the technology met their quality standards. The huge honey extractor was trucked from Italy to the village of Lukoniai in the Kupiškis district. Representatives of the vendor were involved in the installation, connection and commissioning of the machine, ensuring a safe and smooth commissioning of the woodchuck.
„First of all, it was not us who tested the new machine, but the electrical installation – it blew a fuse“, – laughs V. Jackevičius. – „We quickly replaced them with more powerful ones and everything went on like clockwork.“
This powerful machine is expected to revolutionise the brothers' daily work. Previously, it used to take a whole day to extract the honey, but now it takes only a few minutes. It takes just 5 minutes for the powerful machine to unpack and extract honey from 120 combs. Beekeepers are confident that this will significantly improve their productivity, ensuring the highest quality standards in all production processes.
„The apiary we maintain is home to more than 300 happy bee colonies. We have no plans to increase this number for the time being. The aim is to concentrate on developing and introducing new honey products to the public, and with the new honey bee, there should be plenty of time to do this," says I. Jackevičius.
„Brothers' Honey“ has been around since 2011, but the brothers' hobby turned into a business only six years ago, when the production of honey products was complemented by the breeding of queen bees. Starting with traditional beekeeping, the twin brothers now produce around 30 different bee and honey products.
„We offer not only traditional Lithuanian honey, bee bread, pollen, throat sprays with pitch for children and adults, but also unique products such as honey with freeze-dried berries, chocolate and milk candy with honey. The most popular at the moment – are the gold-medal-winning fruit juice and honey gummies „Broliai beariai“, – welcomes V. Jackevičius.
Brothers Bears is not only about honey, bee products and their quality, but also about the opportunity to help people overcome their fears, get to know bees better and maybe even fall in love with them. The brothers, who are eager to share their experiences, invite the public to visit their bee-friendly apiary, get to know the bees up close, experience the emotions that drove them to take up the beekeeping business in the first place, and rejoice in the results today.„The bees taught us patience, and now – we share what we create with love“, – say the brothers.
