Farmers receive €2.6 million to buy biosecurity measures
Farmers raising livestock and poultry will be able to apply for €2.6 million in support for the purchase of biosecurity measures as of 2 May, says Inga Budzevičiūtė, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Agriculture (MAA).
„All farmers who keep domestic farm animals (...) can apply for support. For this support, the call basket has now been increased from €1 million to €2.6 million. We want to make sure that farms have as many opportunities as possible to benefit from biosecurity measures," I. Budzevičiūtė, advisor to the Business Support Unit at the MAFF, told LRT radio on Monday.
According to her, there is no minimum relative number of animals kept by farmers, but the farmer must be engaged in the primary production of agricultural products in the field of animal husbandry prior to the submission of the application, as well as have been marketing his production on the market for at least one year.
Applications for the support will be open until 30 June this year.
Funding for the support is foreseen under the intervention measure of the Strategic Plan for Agriculture and Rural Development 2023-2027.
