"Vičiūnų grupa seeks to establish itself in the Canadian market

The fish and other food production and trading group „Vičiūnų grupė“, partly owned by Kaunas Mayor Visvaldas Matijošaitis, is entering Canada, where it is setting up a sales office and will be expanding its business in the areas of hotels, restaurants and catering, in addition to trading, the group said on Friday.

„This is another step in the group's international expansion strategy and in strengthening its position in the North American market, which has already seen the establishment of a company in the United States earlier this year,   

the statement said.

„Currently, the target product portfolio is being actively formed, new products are being developed, a team is being assembled, and we are working intensively with existing and potential partners," Andrius Klimaitis, CEO of the Canadian-based company „VG Trading Canada“ and „Vičiūnai Serbia“, said in a statement.

According to the announcement, Canada is seen as a strategically important market with high growth potential. The new company will act as a sales representative, strengthen the brand awareness of „Vichy“ and expand its presence in the retail and horeca – hotel, restaurant and catering – businesses.

This year, „Vichy Group“ also established a company in the US, „VG Trading USA“.

Earlier BNS wrote that „Vičiūnų grupė“ sold its business in Russia and other Eastern markets last April for a little more than EUR 100 million.
