With the resignation of Gintautas Paluckas, there are also questions about the future of the Government as a whole. We asked the Minister of Agriculture, Ignas Hofmanas, how he is feeling at the moment.

Agriculture Minister Ignas Hofmann says that when he took up his post, he always knew that he could work for a month, three months or more.

„That is the price of democracy. I already knew when I came to this position that I might have to work for a few months, or two months, or two years, or even for a whole term of office. I was well aware of the reality of the responsibilities," Mr Hofman told Agrobitei, adding that both he and his political team had gained some momentum and that it would be a pity if they could not achieve everything that was planned.

„But I feel completely normal. If anything changes, I hope that others will continue the work," said Mr Hofman.

The Law on the Government of the Republic of Lithuania stipulates that ministers also resign when the Prime Minister resigns.

The Prime Minister or a member of the Government acting for the Prime Minister shall notify the President of the Republic in writing of the resignation of the Government, who may delegate one of the Ministers to act as Prime Minister until a new Government is formed.

Without written notification of the resignation of the Government, the President of the Republic shall have the power to entrust the Government with the performance of its duties and to appoint a member of the Government to replace the Prime Minister until a new Government is formed.
