42.8 million tonnes of cereals have been harvested in Ukraine
Ukraine, which is at war with Russia, is not only trying to defend itself against invaders, but also to provide food. Farmers have reportedly already harvested 42.8 million tonnes of cereals. In addition, 18 million tonnes of oilseeds have been harvested.
Wheat, barley and oilseed rape harvests are now complete. The 4.9 million hectares of wheat fields have yielded 22.3 million tonnes of cereals. Barley was threshed on 1.4 million hectares and yielded 5.5 million tonnes.
Rape was grown on 1.3 million hectares and yielded 3.5 million tonnes of seed.
Peas were also harvested. From 212,200 hectares, 465,300 tonnes were harvested.
In Ukraine, farmers have almost completed (97%) the buckwheat harvest. Here, 124,800 tonnes of buckwheat have been harvested from 86,300 hectares.
