Officers from Kaunas Fire Rescue Board rushed to Jurbarkas district, village of Būtrimai yesterday morning. They received a report that a farm near an old bird house was on fire, with about 150 cows inside, a lot of cows and a lot of food.

The fire was extinguished by the residents before the fire brigade arrived.

„The fire started in a 4x3 m room of an auxiliary building, the walls of the room are made of brick, clad with panelling, the roof is covered with tin. About 2 m of internal panelling, about 3 m of wiring were burnt. The premises were ventilated, firefighters reported.

The incident is under investigation.
