Plant lovers are often keen to ensure that their houseplants are not only healthy, but also that they can decorate their homes with abundant flowers. Pelargoniums and orchids are two very popular houseplants that are renowned for their abundant and eye-catching blooms. However, proper care and fertiliser are essential for these plants to show their full beauty.

In this article you will learn that there are two effective fertilisers for houseplants. They will help your flowers to repay your care with wonderful flowers. This fertiliser is very popular with geraniums and orchids, but all houseplants benefit from it. They will look healthier and more lush.

Watering houseplants with a mixture of water and orange or lemon juice stimulates vigorous root growth, restores and heals weak plants. This fertiliser also promotes healthy leaf growth and ensures abundant flowering.

This fertilisation method is ideal for geraniums, violets and orchids.

Orange and lemon juice have been shown to have a positive effect on plants. These juices are rich in minerals and vitamins.

Mix 1 teaspoon of juice to 1 litre of cold water. Stir the resulting liquid well. Spray on the leaves of the plants. If you are fertilising orchids, spray only the roots with this mixture.

If you use lemon juice, mix it with water in the same proportion (1 teaspoon of juice to 1 litre of water).

It is recommended to apply this fertiliser once every three weeks. However, if the plants are weak, you can use this fertiliser once a week.

Do not discard citrus peels!
Citrus peel is also good for houseplants, especially mandarins.

Citrus peel gives off a lot of beneficial substances and can help protect plants from aphids.

Place the peel of citrus fruits in the plant pot.
