Price champion: golden cucumbers from Lidl
Rubrika “Readers' letters”: “Golden Cucumbers”
“I understand that the cucumber season is ending and they won't be available for a euro each, but 10 euros for a kilo of cucumbers in „Lidl“, that's very strong”.
Pricer.lt comment. Lidi – the price champion and guarantees you unbeatable prices! It's not until the holidays that we'll see more of this.
We took a quick look at what you can buy for a similar amount of €9.99: 3 kg of pork shoulder in Maxima, a regular or electric kettle, a small Christmas tree, a chopper. And that's without the Chinese online shops – here from our local merchants.
„Lidl Lietuva“: a cucumber is not equal to a pickle
“A cucumber may seem to be equal to a cucumber, but honey and chocolate are both sweet, but not the same, – – „Lidl Lietuva“ PR manager Lina Skersytė.
According to her, the harvest of short-fruited Lithuanian cucumbers is not now over, but a new one has begun.
„These cucumbers are grown in a very limited way, with a lot of artificial light and heat, so that we can offer such a harvest to our customers in the winter season. This is a truly exceptional range. Compared to the same period last year, the prices of this harvest have not changed, the only difference is that last year we offered these cucumbers in 500 g packs, while this year they are available in bulk," said L. Skersytė.
I really like Lidl's comment that a cucumber is not the same as a cucumber, because they are special short-fruited, Lithuanian, November, expensive to grow, everything is fine, but…At the time of this scandal, these Lithuanian, short-fruited, November-grown and even pre-packed cucumbers were almost twice as cheap at the cheapest supermarket chain „IKI“ – 5.98 EUR/kg – almost twice as cheap.
We have already noticed several times that it is not the German Lidl that operates in Lithuania, but some Lithuanian mutation.
And in this case, Lidl can choose between 2 extremes – either their local commercial managers are useless and they are being bullied like children, or the chain's appetite for profit is beyond common sense.
Golden Cucumber Medal for Lidl
So, based on the latest developments with golden cucumbers, PricerLT has hastily created the “Golden Cucumber” medal and virtually presented it to the Lidl supermarket chain.
The network will be able to use it free of charge in its communications alongside all other medals, or to hang it on its Christmas tree, as the design of the medal was deliberately made to be used as a tree decoration. Christmas is not just around the corner!
