In the early hours of 1 September, officers of Kaunas Fire Rescue Board received a report of a fire in the village of Subačiškės in Kazlų Rūda municipality.

„An outbuilding was on fire. The building is made of brick, 1 storey, size 75x15 m, covered with slate. The building contained a warehouse, a workshop and garages. The roof of the building was burnt down, about 20 m of roofing was removed, one stone wall inside the building collapsed, firefighters report.

Vieta residents noticed the fire and removed 25 cattle from the building into pens.

The absent owner managed to remove 2 tractors and a car from the building.

Water for the fire was supplied from an artificial reservoir 400 metres away.
