Petrol and natural gas are getting more expensive
Last week, only petrol and natural gas rose in price in Lithuania, reports the Lithuanian Energy Agency (LEA). Brent crude oil is estimated to have fallen by 3.7% over the week, biofuel prices fell by 0.2%, diesel by 0.4% and petrol by 0.4%.
Natural gas rose by 0.9% in TTF. According to LEA data, natural gas prices exceeded €40/MWh for the first time this year, although they fell back to €39.7/MWh on 1 November.
European gas storage is currently estimated to be 95.2% full, up from 95.3% a week ago and 99.4% a year ago.
Inchukalnis gas storage is now, as a week ago, about 79.7% full, compared to 89% at the same time a year ago.
It is reported that 454.4 GWh of natural gas was supplied to the market through the Klaipėda LNG terminal last week, on 28 October & 1 November. The previous week the figure was 498.1 GWh. No natural gas was received from Poland last week (29.6 GWh the previous week). 72.9 GWh of natural gas was shipped to Latvia during the period (304.6 GWh the previous week) and 196.5 GWh to Poland (no natural gas shipped the previous week). Lithuanian biogas plants produced 2.2 GWh of gas (previous week: 2.0 GWh), LEA notes. Lithuania consumed 209.4 GWh of natural gas during the week (previous week: 266.1 GWh).
According to the LEA, during the period under review, average prices of petrol increased by 0.1-1.5 per cent in all the Baltic countries and neighbouring countries in the comparison period.
The average price of diesel decreased by 0.4 per cent in Lithuania and increased by 0.2-0.6 per cent in Estonia, Poland and Germany.
Fuel in Lithuania is currently the cheapest among the Baltic States. Compared to fuel prices in the European Union (EU), the average price of petrol in Lithuania is 15.9 per cent and diesel 11.1 per cent lower. In Lithuania, the difference between the average price of petrol and diesel is EUR 0.025 per litre, the agency reports.
