Temporary ban on transport of animals through Hungary due to extreme heat

VMVT nuotr.

The State Food and Veterinary Office (SVVT) informs that due to severe heatwaves forecast for the next few days, a checkpoint in Hungary (on the route to Turkey via Bulgaria) is closed. The ban applies to live ruminants both in transit and as a final destination.

During this period, consignments from other Member States arriving at Hungarian control posts will also not be allowed to continue their journey towards Turkey via Bulgaria (unless the vehicle is equipped with an air-conditioning system capable of active cooling).

The HVO recommends reducing the transport of animals during long journeys in summer and considering transporting animals during cooler periods, e.g. from 8 pm to 10 pm.
