A knowledge bomb - not just for Angus breeders
Lots of important news for breeders and a round of applause at the bull auction. This was the šešday at the Baltos Avies Cooperative (Elektrėnai municipality), where a seminar for beef cattle breeders and dairy farm managers was held on "Angus – a breed for all""
.The co-operative šs seminar was held at the co-operative by chance, as it is equipped with as many as two fattening stations.
"Litgen" representative Edvardas Gedgaudas presented the British experience of inseminating Angus bulls with semen, both for beef herds and to increase productivity on dairy farms.
It was also interesting to listen to Edita Meškinytė from the Academy of Agriculture of VMU about genomic studies and why they are important for every farm. For example, that hair samples can be taken by the farmer himself (following a certain algorithm), but blood samples can only be taken by a veterinarian.
A bull auction was also held in the middle of the seminar.
Already during the event, Migonis said that this was the last seminar organised by the cooperative.
