In Kupišky, a fire broke out in a large grain dryer where 40 tonnes of rapeseed were stored at around noon on Thursday.

According to the Fire Protection and Rescue Department (PAGD), the report of the fire in Technikos Street was received at 11.14 a.m.

„On arrival, smoke was coming from a grain dryer. The grain dryer is 25 m high and 10 m wide, of metal construction, with sheet metal walls. The fire charred the inside of the drying room and caused the tin to discolour over an area of ~3 m² due to the heat. ~0,5 t of oilseed rape was burnt. Inside there was ~40 t of rapeseed“, – the report said.
