The farming community has shown incredible unity in helping Ieva Staniene's fire-stricken farm to at least partially get back on its feet. At last count, some 650 individuals and companies have donated €180,000 to what was once one of the most productive farms in the world.

„Companies have promised to help with machinery and some have donated products for livestock. The support is very strong, which does not allow us to collapse," said Zita Dargienė, chairwoman of the Telšiai District Farmers' Union.

„A person forgets many things with time, but he never forgets those who were with him in the most difficult moments of his life…Our family will never forget those people. Thank you to them“, – wrote I. Stanienė.

„Agrobitė“ reminds that a huge fire broke out on the evening of 24 January in the village of Kalnėnai, in the district of Telšiai, in the municipality of Gadūnavas. Here, 7 fire-fighting and rescue crews were extinguishing a hangar where all the farm machinery was packed. Most of it was burnt. The loss to the farm amounted to around €1 million. The property was not insured. Over 100 dairy cows remained on the farm.
