Earnings of beer major Heineken fall
One of the world's biggest beer makers – the Netherlands' Heineken “ reported on Wednesday that its earnings in the third quarter of this year declined despite a rise in sales volumes, but reaffirmed its forecast for the full year.
Sales revenue fell 5.5% year-on-year to €9.072 billion, according to the company's statement. The company attributed the decline to the depreciation of the national currencies of Brazil, Mexico, Ethiopia and Nigeria.
Sales volumes of premium beers increased by 4.5%, with total sales up 0.7% in volume terms. Sales of "Heineken" brand beer alone grew by 8.7 per cent, while non-alcoholic beer grew by 3.4 per cent.
General sales grew by 1.4 per cent in Europe, 6.4 per cent in Africa and the Middle East, while Asia Pacific – declined by 1.2 per cent and the Americas – 1.3 per cent.
