Polish farmers plan to blockade the border crossing point between Medyka and Šehyni on Saturday
Polish farmers intend to block freight traffic at the Medyka & Shehyni checkpoint on the border with Ukraine from 23 November.
This was reported by the State Customs Service of Ukraine in its „Telegram“ channel, cited by „Ukrinform“.
According to information received from Poland, the country's farmers are planning to start a strike at the Medyka &ndash Shehynyi checkpoint on 23 November at 9 a.m. Kyiv time.
The restrictions are expected to apply to goods vehicles. The traffic of trucks weighing more than 3.5 tonnes from Ukraine will be completely blocked. It is planned to allow one lorry per hour into Ukraine.
Buses and cars will be allowed to pass in both directions without changes.
If the strike starts, drivers will be informed of any changes in the situation.
Since 9 February 2024, farmers' protests have been taking place on the roads leading to checkpoints on the Polish territory near the border with Ukraine. Protesters demanded a ban on Ukrainian agricultural imports and the abandonment of the European Green Deal.
Five incidents of Ukrainian agricultural produce being dumped from freight wagons onto the tracks and from lorries onto the roads were recorded.
The blockade of border checkpoints was only lifted on 29 April.
