Polish farmers don't give up - protest moves to the National Theatre
Farmers are protesting in Warsaw on Friday from 2pm to 11pm.Farmers are protesting in the centre of Warsaw, in front of the European Commission's headquarters, and during these hours the protest continues outside the National Theatre, which is hosting the official celebrations of the Polish Presidency of the European Union. The demonstration was initiated by the Agreement of Agricultural Organisations, which already brings together 21 associations and unions.
Officials in Warsaw have warned motorists of possible difficulties.
The protesters themselves have also been warned. They reminded them that tractors and slow-moving vehicles are not allowed to enter the capitals.
„Violation of this ban may result in a fine“, – informed local officials.„The entry of tractors into Warsaw could paralyse the work of the ambulance service, with particular emphasis on medical services“, – they noted.
According to farmer.pl, farmers will protest against Brussels' „dictates“. The slogan of the farmers' protest is „5 x STOP“ – and concerns the issues of the Green Deal, Mercosur, imports from Ukraine, Polish deforestation and hunting, and the disappearance of Poland's economy.
„All agricultural organisations in our country will protest against the harmful policy of the European Union, against Mrs Urszula von der Leyen, who is imposing the tone of this policy, which will force the closure of our farms,“ Tomasz Obszański, the chairman of the trade union "Solidarity", told the farmer.pl portal.
