D. Kliučinskas takes up his post as Lithuania's Agricultural Attaché to the United Kingdom
Deividas Kliučinskas has taken up the post of Agriculture Attaché at the Lithuanian Embassy in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
„The position of Agricultural Attaché in the United Kingdom, which is important for Lithuania's agricultural sector, comes with many challenges. The country's withdrawal from the European Union has created new trade barriers and uncertainty, while outbreaks of infectious animal diseases are also a threat. The Attaché has to keep an eye on all these changes, help Lithuanian businesses adapt and find reliable trading partners," says Ignas Hofmanas, Minister of Agriculture.
Minister Hofmann expressed his expectation that the new attaché will successfully represent Lithuania's interests and will be an excellent representative of our country's agricultural sector abroad.
Until his appointment, Mr Kliučinskas was the Director of the Food and Veterinary Policy Department of the State Food and Veterinary Service (VMVT) and was responsible for coordinating export procedures and certificates for agricultural products with countries that import Lithuanian agricultural products.
In 2008, after graduating from the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences and obtaining a qualification of a veterinarian, D. Kliučinskas started working at the VMVT as a food inspector, and later he held the positions of Head of the Department and the Deputy Director of the VMVT.
D. Kliučinskas has many years of experience in international relations. During the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the EU (2013), he was Vice-Chairman of the Working Group, and has regularly participated in various EU Working Groups and bilateral negotiations with the USA, Japan and other countries on export authorisations. He has shared his experience with colleagues in Israel, Moldova, Ukraine, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Kosovo in the framework of joint EU projects to strengthen food safety and animal health requirements.
Since 2017, Mr Kliučinskas has served for four years as Lithuania's Agricultural Attaché to Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand and Australia.
