I. Hofmanas invites UAE companies to invest in Lithuania's agriculture and food industry
In Dubai, Minister of Agriculture Ignas Hofmanas met H.E. Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment for Agriculture of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Lithuania and the UAE are keen to increase the momentum of cooperation between the two countries. The meeting discussed key issues related to the promotion of bilateral trade, food security and other issues, as well as opportunities for agricultural innovation and investment in Lithuania's agriculture and food industry sectors.
Ministers welcomed Lithuania's growing exports of agricultural and food products to the UAE, with the value of exports increasing by more than 60 per cent in 2024 (compared to 2023), and stressed the ambition to develop new ideas, processing and food security projects.
Minister I. Hofmanas stressed that Lithuania can offer solutions to a country facing food security challenges and invited the UAE to collaborate in the development of higher value-added products.
UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment invited Minister I. Hofman to visit the UAE on 21–23 October 2025. The Minister will also attend the Global Food Week in Abu Dhabi on 22 and 20/2020. The event will include a Global Food Security Summit to reduce global hunger and promote sustainable development. The Summit will bring together heads of state, policy makers and organisations working to address the challenges of food security and agriculture.
Ministers agreed to further strengthen inter-agency cooperation as well as to accelerate the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding through the Action Plan, which is one way to attract investment. I. Hofmanas invited UAE companies to invest in Lithuania's agricultural and food industry.
„There is mutual interest and it is important to help businesses develop and expand their relations with the UAE and the countries in the region. The growing demand for quality raw materials and products for the food industry is an opportunity for Lithuanian companies that are ready to offer UAE consumers products that meet stringent quality requirements. We need to take decisive action and strengthen international cooperation to keep food trade open," said Agriculture Minister I Hofmanas.
