The global dairy market continues to struggle to recover, according to the latest auction data from dairy trading marketplace "Global Dairy Trade" (GDT). In the last trading session on 6 August, the GDT index rose by only 0.5% to 1087 points. As a reminder, two weeks ago, the GDT index was also only up by 0.4%, after having experienced a real failure (-6.9%).

Lactose rose by as much as 16.1% in the last trading session, while Mozzarella prices also rose by 8.4%. However, the main products hardly showed signs of life. Butter was 2.4% cheaper, skimmed milk flour 2.7% cheaper, but Cheddar cheese (+1.3%), whole milk flour (+2.4%) and butter flour (+3.4%) were slightly more expensive.

The GDT trading platform is owned by the New Zealand agricultural cooperative "Fonterra". Trends in the Oceania zone will reach Europe in about 1.5-2 months.
