Milk purchase prices in Estonia have risen by almost 9% year-on-year.
The average farm-gate milk price in Estonia last month was 8.7% higher than in October last year at €447.1 per tonne, according to the national statistics office.
In October, prices rose by an average of 5.1 per cent during the month compared to September.
Purchase volumes increased by 2.2 per cent on the month and 6.1 per cent on the year to 74,400 tonnes, of which 61,700 tonnes were of the highest grade.
Last month, milk purchased had an average fat content of 3.9% and an average albumen content of 3.5%. Over the year, the first indicator decreased by 0.1 percentage points, while the second remained stable.
Estonian dairies last month produced around 10,000 tonnes of drinking milk (0.9 thousand tonnes more than a year ago), 2.8 thousand tonnes of sour milk (0.2 thousand tonnes less), 2.7 thousand tonnes of cream (0.1 thousand tonnes more), 0.2 thousand tonnes of butter (0.1 thousand tonnes less), 5.3 thousand tonnes of cheeses and curd cheese (0.8 thousand tonnes more).
