In Estonia, milk purchase prices rose by 4.3% year-on-year.

The average milk purchase price in Estonia was 4.3% higher last month than in August last year at €414.2 per tonne, the national statistics office has announced.

Prices increased by an average of 0.4 percent during the month (August compared to July). Purchase volumes fell by 2.5 percent on the month and rose by 4.8 percent on the year to 77.1 thousand tonnes. Premium milk alone accounted for 65,000 tonnes – 7.35% more than in August last year.

The average fat content of milk bought in last month was 3.7% and the average albumen content 3.3%. Over the year, the former has fallen by 0.1 percentage points, while the latter has remained stable.

Estonian dairy processors last month produced around 9.6 thousand tonnes of drinking milk (up 5.5% year-on-year), 3.1 thousand tonnes of sour milk (the same), 2.7 thousand tonnes of cream (up 8%), 0.3 thousand tonnes of butter (the same), 5.4 thousand tonnes of cheeses and curds (up 28.6%).
