Milk prices in Estonia rise by more than a tenth in a year

The average farm-gate milk price in Estonia last month was 10.8% higher than in November last year at €466.1 per tonne, according to the national statistics office.

In November, prices rose by an average of 4.2 per cent during the month compared to October.

Purchase volumes fell by 6.8 per cent on the month and rose by 1.6 per cent on the year to 69,300 tonnes, of which 57,800 tonnes were of the highest grade.

The average fat content of milk purchased last month was 4.0% and the average albumen content 3.5%. Both of these indicators remained unchanged over the year.

Estonian dairies last month produced around 10,000 tonnes of drinking milk (1,400 tonnes more than a year ago), 2,700 tonnes of sour milk (around the same), 2,600 tonnes of cream (0,100 tonnes more), 0,300 tonnes of butter (around the same), 5,100 tonnes of cheese and curd (0,600 tonnes more).
