Milk purchase prices in Estonia rise by a fifth in a year

The average farm-gate milk price in Estonia last month was 21% higher than in March last year at €518.8 per tonne, the national statistics office has reported.

Prices fell by an average of 1.1 per cent during the month of March compared to February.

Purchase volumes rose by 11.4 per cent on the month and by 0.1 per cent on the year to 78.9 thousand tonnes.

Last month, milk purchased had an average fat content of 3.9 percent and an average protein content of 3.5 percent. Over the year, the former remained stable and the latter increased by 0.1 percentage points.
