Milk purchases in Latvia increased last year

Latvia bought 833.7 thousand tonnes of raw milk last year, up 0.6% compared to 2023, according to Latvia data released by the Agricultural Data Centre.

Purchase volumes were unchanged last month compared to December last year at 66.4 thousand tonnes.

Only organic milk purchases in the last month of last year were 33.9% lower than a year ago at 29,000 tonnes.

The number of milk cows in the country decreased by 5.8% to 119.68 thousand last year, while the number of cows to be used for milk production also decreased by 5.8% to 104.26 thousand.
