Interview with Ignas Hofmann, candidate for Agriculture Minister

Farmers are increasingly likely to have a representative in the next Government. Both Remigijus Žemaitaitis, the leader of "Nemunas aušros", and Gintautas Paluckas, the new head of the government, confirmed that Ignas Hofmanas, a farmer who is currently head of the Lithuanian Agriculture Council, will be proposed to President Gitanas Nausėda as a candidate to become Minister of Agriculture.

Ignas Hofmanas had very little time to decide to run for Agriculture Minister. "The only driving motivation to make that decision was that it was an opportunity for the whole farming community," says Mr Hofmanas.

It was this community that encouraged and motivated Mr Hofman to take the decision. „It's all happening so fast here – how the whirlwind has drawn me in and I myself sometimes don't understand what's going on“, – both jokingly and seriously, says I. Hofman.

What is his attitude towards his future job, how will it be working with the Chamber of Agriculture, which is the origin of the 10 organisations that have merged to form the Lithuanian Agricultural Council, what should small and medium-sized farms know, and what are the roots of Hofman's origins, see in this interview from „Agrobitė play“.
