Ice cream maker Vikeda seeks acquisitions abroad
Vikeda, one of the largest ice cream producers in the „Vikonda group“, is looking for acquisitions in other countries, writes „Verslo žinios“ on Friday.
„We are continuing to invest, expanding our production capacity, and are intensively looking for acquisitions abroad. Because the geographical position is very important for ice cream production," said Algirdas Gauronskis, the company's CEO.
Ice cream is shipped to the US by container and it is not profitable to ship it further away from Germany, for example to Spain, he said – ice cream is too expensive when you factor in transport costs, so they are looking at Central Europe, but as ice cream producers had a favourable summer last year, negotiations are difficult. It is to be hoped that the problems caused by this summer will change this.
