"Timac Agro Lietuva employees ridicule a farmer's rape field affected by frost. The reaction boomeranged (VIDEO)

Since Wednesday, social networks have been abuzz with farmers' reactions to a video shared by „Timac Agro Lietuva“ employees mocking a farmer's rapeseed field, which has been badly affected by frost.

Farmers are not only shaming the company, but are also openly calling for a boycott of its products.

„Agrobite“ recalls that the scandalous video was posted on the „TikTok“ platform on the account of „Timac Agro Lietuva“ regional manager Vitalij Levon, but quickly spread to „Facebook“ network.

„Dear Alma, you are now in a potential field. We can see that oilseed rape is very potential. We can see that what kind of... the number of branches is huge. See how strongly the... It's not blooming here yet... Just, will there be six tonnes here?", asks my colleague Levon, showing the obviously frost-bitten plants, of which the farmer is unlikely to get even about 2 tonnes.

„Well, maybe not six, but 5.5 should be enough", – replied Alma Merkevičienė, a consultant from "Timac Agro Lietuva", smiling in the field.

Farmers' reactions

This post was returned by „Timac Agro Lietuva“. Here are the reactions from farmers.

 Farmer Mantas Plakys:

“Timac agro” is publicly mocking a victimised Lithuanian farmer. Avoid this company as much as possible!!!“

Farmer and Chairman of the Lithuanian Grain Growers Association Audrius Vanagas:

„Considering the current situation in agriculture after the frost period, such an assessment of the situation seems bizarre to say the least“.

Farmer and opinion leader Jolanta Grey:

„SHAME! This is not the time or the place to make jokes about such things when most farms are suffering huge losses“.

Farmer Vaidas Žukauskas:

"A very big shame for the company! „Timac Agro Lietuva“, what did you want to show with this video?   We share it because a company that respects itself cannot behave like this!“

Farmer Dainius Arlauskas:

„The unusual recent frosts have caused very serious damage to all sectors of our country's crop production, horticulture and gardening. Those who are uninsured or even unable to take out insurance will have the hardest time. Everywhere there are those who want to make a mockery of a bad situation. „Timac Agro Lietuva“, but if your products were used on at least "3 tons", would that field be stretched?

The company has started apologising

Farmers' outrage was echoed by „Timac Agro Lietuva“, which, among other things, was the main sponsor of „What will you sow... 2025“ was the main sponsor of the event.

„Yesterday, a video went viral on social media showing our employees making a careless and unethical joke about a potentially frozen, randomly selected canola field. The video was shared on a staff member's personal social network and has now been removed.

First of all, we sincerely apologise to the field owner and the entire farming community – we understand that this post may have caused offence, frustration and belittled your hard work.

The content of the video in no way reflects the values, culture and attitude of „Timac Agro Lietuva“ towards farmers. This was an individual, irresponsible act which we condemn.

We are currently trying to locate the farmer whose field was shown in the video so that we can apologise in person. We are also taking action with the employee who made the video public and we are talking to all employees together to ensure that such incidents do not happen again.

„Timac Agro Lietuva“ respects every farmer in Lithuania – your work, especially in the face of extreme weather conditions, requires not only knowledge but also strength. We apologise once again to all those who were offended by this post. Such behaviour has no place in our organisation and will have no place in our organisation.
