Poachers resisted environmental enforcement officers and injured one
Three poachers who were catching salmon in the Neris River in Vilnius resisted environmental officers and injured one of them.
As reported by the Police Department, the incident took place on Thursday afternoon, at around 3 pm. The poaching took place on the bank of Paupio Street, near the Neris River, at 10:00 on Friday evening.
Environmental guards spotted three men possibly poaching salmon.
While trying to apprehend the men, one of them actively resisted and injured a uniformed officer of the Department of Environmental Protection under the Ministry of Environment, 46 years old, while on duty.
The victim is being treated as an outpatient after medical examination.
A pre-trial investigation has been initiated for causing physical pain or minor injury to health.
A person who, by beating or other violence, inflicts physical pain on a person, or causes minor injury or short-term damage, shall be punished by community service or restriction of liberty, or by arrest, or by imprisonment for up to one year.
