Fuel prices in Lithuania remain lower than in Poland
Last week, petrol prices in Lithuania decreased by 0.3%, while diesel prices decreased by 0.9%. This is the fourth week in a row that average fuel prices in Lithuania have declined, according to the Lithuanian Energy Agency (LEA).
According to the LEA, on 20 May, the average price of diesel fuel in Lithuania was EUR 1.44 per litre, while the average price of petrol reached EUR 1.52 per litre.
During the week, average petrol prices decreased in all Baltic countries and Germany by 0.3–2.3 per cent, with the exception of Poland, where the average price increased by 0.1 per cent.
The average price of petrol in Poland is €1.56/l, €0.04/l higher than in Poland.
Diesel average prices in all Baltic countries, Poland and Germany decreased by 0.1–1.7 per cent during the week. The average price of diesel in Poland is EUR 1.56/l, EUR 0.12/l higher than in our country. In Estonia and Latvia, average diesel prices are EUR 1.54/l and EUR 1.60/l respectively.
Average petrol prices in all the countries compared are now 1–9% higher than twelve months ago, while average diesel prices are now 3–16% higher than at the same time last year.
In the EU countries, fuels also fell last week, with the average price of petrol down 0.6% and diesel down 0.7%. Compared to the EU average, the average price of petrol in Lithuania was 14.2% lower and diesel 11.5% lower.
Wholesale fuel prices also fell in Lithuania in May (1–22), with petrol falling by EUR 0.06/l and diesel by EUR 0.03/l.
LEA recalls that in April, the wholesale price of petrol increased by EUR 0.01 per litre, while diesel decreased by EUR 0.04 per litre. In March, the price of petrol increased by €0.07/l and the price of diesel by almost €0.11/l.
