The National Centre for Public Health carried out a state operational public health safety inspection of AB „Lifosa“ in response to odour complaints received from Kėdainiai residents in July–August. Air samples were taken from the company's odour pollution sources specified in the company's pollution and integrated prevention control permit.

The results of the laboratory's tests showed that the permitted emission limits for odour are exceeded at eleven sources.

AB „Lifosa“ has been issued with an inspection report and instructed to remedy the identified violations by 10 December 2024.

The implementation of the instructions issued during the inspection will be monitored by the Kaunas Department of the NVSC during the follow-up public health safety control.

Investigations on other possible sources of odours from the companies AB „Nordic Sugar Kėdainiai“ and UAB „Kėdainių vandenys“ are still ongoing.

We expect to receive a comment from „Lifosa“ next week.
