"Pöttinger has developed a more advanced wildlife scanner for its mowers
At Agromek 2024 in Denmark, Austrian implement manufacturer „Pöttinger“ presented a more advanced version of the „Sensosafe“ wildlife scanner.
The new „Sensosafe“ wildlife scanner has a working width of 3.5 metres and can be combined with equipment wider than 10 metres.
The scanner is mounted on the front or rear of the mower or forage harvester and scans for wildlife during harvesting.
When birds, female deer or other wildlife are detected in the crop, „Sensosafe“ alerts the operator to stop the machine.
The „Sensosafe“ wildlife scanner uses infrared light that bounces off the fur or feathers of wild animals.
This system has a certain advantage over thermal imaging, especially on warm days when the whole environment is at more or less the same temperature. For this reason alone, thermal imaging cameras are less effective than „Sensosafe“.
