On Thursday, farmers in the Polish municipality of Topolka announced that they will pay a bonus of €14,000 (60,000 zlotys) for information about the criminals who caused the breakdown of two forage harvesters.

The perpetrators had attached metal rods to corn, and during the preparation of the corn silage, the rods were caught in the harvesters, causing severe damage to them.

„We are concerned about the health of both operators and bystanders. We want to publicise the incidents related to the hanging of metal rods in the maize“ – Damian Świderski‘ wrote on „Facebook“ account. The hanging of metal strips in maize has long been a known problem in Poland.

According to Damian, the stainless steel rods are fastened with fastening straps to hold them on the corn stalks.

According to the recording, at least two similar incidents are already known to have occurred in the municipality of Topolka, where tens of thousands of euros will be needed to repair the harvesters.

„In one such incident, a steel bar damaged parts of a combine harvester and sent them flying about 15 metres towards the road where a cyclist was riding. Let's not wait for a tragedy“, – wrote D. Świderski‘s on social network.

The crime has already been reported to the police. The offence is punishable by up to 5 years imprisonment.
