The SIMA international agricultural exhibition, which was due to take place in Paris from 24 to 27 November this year, is cancelled. Although no such announcement has yet been made on the official SIMA website, the news of the cancellation has been published by the French agribusiness portal "Matériel Agricole Info""

The news was quickly picked up by other media. Axema, which brings together French manufacturers of agricultural machinery and equipment, was cited as the source of the information by „Matériel Agricole Info“ in its report.

According to the portal, the decision to cancel the exhibition was prompted by the downturn in the agricultural machinery market and the deep crisis in the agricultural sector in France and in Europe in general. The situation has been exacerbated not only by the COVID pandemic, but also by the war in Ukraine and the volatility of raw material and energy prices.

Farmers have commented extensively on the announcement, proposing a general boycott of all trade fairs until the authorities implement their demands.

„Išašwise&decision&which&shows&once&again&that&the&agricultural&world&isšnotšshrinking&at&the& moment. Let's hope that this will make our „grey men“ in the French and European governments react to realise that a suffering agriculture is only the beginning of the decline“, – rašo Earl Roussel‘as.

„We should boycott all agricultural demonstrations, all fairs“, – said another commentator.

The next SIMA exhibition should take place in 2026.

SIMA is the second largest international agricultural exhibition after "Agritechnica" in Germany.

In Lithuania, for its part, the „What you sow...“ exhibition is coming up, but its organisers are criticised even by the exhibitors themselves for too frequent exhibitions and for charging too much for the exhibition space.
