On 17 December, Chamber of Agriculture (CAA) Director Sigitas Dimaitis and members of the Association of Farmers of Šalčininkai District Nijolia Andrushkevich, Barbara Novikova and Božena Lazovska took part in a presentation of the achievements of the project "PRUDENT" under the "European Horizonto" programme, as well as in a discussion on the challenges facing farmers today.

Today, Božena's farm has a herd of 60 goats from which the farm produces cheese. She notes that goat's milk is very valuable because it contains natural antibiotics, is allergy-free, suitable for people with digestive problems and even for newborn babies.

Bozena spends a lot of time in the cheese room making goat's milk cheeses, and she likens the cheese-making process to magic, as a single product can be used to create a wide variety of cheeses with different flavours.

„It is important that farmers today are looking for solutions to farm as sustainably as possible and to tackle land degradation, and are looking for ways to increase added value. It was encouraging to see that progressive farmers are actively learning, carrying out market analysis, applying crop rotations, introducing new crops, and adopting innovative technologies to improve product quality and soil. It is great that farmers share their experience, research and knowledge not only among themselves, but also consult with scientific and educational institutions," said S.Dimaitis.
