In the first quarter of 2024, the country's gross domestic product (GDP) was €17.1 billion at current prices. The estimate is derived from econometric models based on available statistical data. Compared with the fourth quarter of 2023, real GDP changed positively by 0.8% after removing the seasonal and working day effects, according to the State Data Agency.

When GDP is measured using the production method, the most positive contribution to GDP change in the first quarter of 2024 came from the performance of manufacturing and wholesale and retail trade; transport and storage.

In the expenditure-based approach to GDP, household final consumption expenditure is estimated to have increased by 2.7% in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the previous quarter, while gross fixed capital formation and general government final consumption expenditure declined by 6.5% and 0.6%, respectively.

The change in real GDP in the first quarter of 2024 compared with the corresponding quarter of 2023 was positive by 2.9% net of seasonal and working-day effects, and positive by 2.9% net of seasonal and working-day effects.

The change in real GDP in the first quarter of 2024 compared with the fourth quarter of 2023, excluding the impact of the season and working days, was negative at 7.8%.

The previously announced 0.8% change in real GDP in the first quarter of 2024 compared with the fourth quarter of 2023, net of seasonal and working day effects, was positive.

GDP and its components are seasonally sensitive, so the changes in GDP and its components in different periods are compared using the changes obtained after removing the seasonal and working day effects.
