Retail sales grew by 3.2% to €7.6 billion this year

The turnover of retail companies in January/May grew by 3.2% year-on-year to €7.67 billion (excluding VAT).

In May alone, their turnover grew by 5.1 per cent year-on-year to €1.704 billion, and by 1.8 per cent compared to April, the State Data Agency said on Friday.

The turnover of food and beverage service companies in the five months amounted to €600.7 million (at prices at the time, excluding VAT) – it fell by 8.6% year-on-year and by €133.3 million in May alone – down 11.1% year-on-year and 1.3% month-on-month. 

Food retailers' sales grew by 3.2% in January-May, Non-food – 3.4%, automotive fuels – 2.6%. In May alone, compared to May last year, their turnover grew by 5% (month-on-month – 4.2%), 4.2% (down 0.6%), and 6.3% (down 2.4%)
