Farmers from Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia expressed their opposition to the European Union's free trade agreement with Mercosur, an organisation of South American countries, at the border crossing point of Hodonín-Holíí on Wednesday. This agreement would liberalise trade in a number of goods and products, particularly in the agricultural and food sectors.

German farmers on the border with the Czech Republic also stood in solidarity with the protest. Polish farmers also joined the protest.
