Heatwave of up to 40 degrees in Italy
A heatwave is sweeping Italy. According to meteorologists, it is expected to be particularly hot in some parts of the country from Wednesday onwards, when thermometer poles will climb to nearly 40 degrees. In the islands of Sicily and Sardinia and in the Apulia region in southern Italy, some areas could reach 40 degrees on Thursday, according to the official meteorological service of the Italian Air Force. High temperatures are also being reported by the „ilmeteo.it“ weather portal.
It could also get hot in the capital, Rome, with temperatures of up to 38 degrees expected on Thursday. Temperatures of up to 40 degrees are forecast in places in the Campania region, with Naples as a major city. In Tuscany, where Florence, Pisa and Siena are popular tourist destinations, the thermometer is expected to reach 32 & 36 degrees. It will also be very warm in the Emilia–Romagna region on the Adriatic Sea. Meanwhile, the more northerly parts of Italy will be spared the intense heat.High temperatures in central and southern Italy are due to a high pressure area, the "Minos", which is moving from Africa towards Italy, according to weather portal „ilmeteo.it“. The hot weather will be accompanied by high humidity. In addition, so-called tropical nights are forecast, with temperatures below 20 degrees. However, over the weekend a heatwave slops.
Meteorologists are forecasting severe storms, primarily in the north, and a drop in temperatures.
