The Ministry of Agriculture draws up a list of products of Russian and Belarusian origin that are prohibited for import

Asociatyvi nuotr.

The Ministry of Agriculture has drawn up a specific list of agricultural products and foodstuffs of Russian and Belarusian origin that are banned for importation into Lithuania . It contains more than 2,800 different products. The list, which is still under negotiation, will have to be approved by our Government by means of a decree.

The approval of the list of prohibited agricultural products and foodstuffs will weaken the economies of the countries that threaten Lithuania's national security and at the same time strengthen our national security.

The list has been drawn up taking into account the volume, structure and value of imports of agricultural products and foodstuffs. It covers 24 groups of products: live animals, meat and offal, fish, milk and milk products, pigs, natural honey, products of non-animal origin, plants, vegetables, fruits, coffee and spices, cereals, grains, oils, beverages, tobacco and other products.

Taking into account the detailed analysis of the import data from Russia and Belarus and the potential for significant harm to processors, as well as the comments received during the public consultation, the list excludes agricultural products with no alternative import options (some mushrooms, berries, vegetable plaiting materials, molasses, some animal feeds etc.)

The restrictive measures imposed will apply from 3 June 2024
