A wild boar found in a meadow near the village of Mičioniai, in the Ramuldava Forest, was found to have died of African swine fever. The boar's carcass was found on the territory of the „Puntukas“ hunting club.

Ramuldava Forest is separated from one of Lithuania's largest forest massifs, the Šimoniai Forest, by the Šventoji River. Juozas Petraitis, chairman of the Puntukas hunting club, said he had just been discussing with specialists whether a natural barrier could stop the spread of African swine fever. „A river will not stop wild boar and therefore it will not stop the spread of the plague. It crosses over, it swims over“, – said Mr Petraitis.
