The purchase price of milk in Lithuania increased by 6% over the year.

The average buying-in price for natural milk in April this year was 40.2 cents per kilogram, 6% higher than the same time last year. However, compared to March, the buying-in price decreased by 5 percent.

According to the Agricultural Data Centre, the farm-gate milk price in April remained one third above the long-term average price. The average milk price for 2017–2021 was 29.9 cents per kilo.

Purchasing companies paid an average of 43.7 cents per kilo to large milk producers –in April – 4.2% more than at the same time last year. Such suppliers accounted for 68.5% of all raw milk bought in April.
According to experts, due to the high purchase price of milk in Lithuania, the production of raw milk on farms is increasing. In April, 108.86 thousand tonnes of milk were purchased, which is 8.7% more than in April 2023.
