Decision on support for farmers in less-favoured areas adopted

This year, farmers in areas with significant natural and other specific handicaps will receive support from two different programming periods. Those declaring crops and applying for support will not need to take any additional steps to do so.

The decision on this funding was taken by the Ministry of Agriculture after assessing the unspent funds of the Lithuanian Rural Development Programme 2014-2020 and ensuring that they are used efficiently.

The support will be granted to farmers in areas with severe natural handicaps (higher or lower intensity) in accordance with the provisions of the rules for the implementation of the intervention measure "Areas with natural or other specific handicaps" of the Lithuanian Strategic Plan for Agriculture and Rural Development 2023–2027. 

For farmers in areas with other specific handicaps (intensive heat and flood-prone areas), support will be granted in accordance with the provisions of the Implementing Rules for the measure "Payments for areas with natural or other specific handicaps" of the Lithuanian Rural Development Programme for the period 2014–2020.
